Renegade Resonance (Sour Grass) -- Orion @ 8:05 pm
These guys are great. I met them while still on Active Duty. Note of trivia about them is that when they were without a drummer they played an acoustic set at a coffee house (I forget which, but I think it was in Oceanside) and I was there playing tambourine keeping time for them, heh.Sour Grass Web Site. Take a look, and if you live in SoCal, you should come to the next show. It's at a bar called Pounder's in Escondido. I'm gonna be there for sure. Maybe I'll get free beer like last time.... Sour Grass - Last Breath If that link doesn't work for the MP3, then try this one instead. That way they get credit for the downloads from mp3.com.
Renegade Resonance (Scooby-Doo Theme) -- Orion @ 12:21 am
I posted a review earlier, and here is the theme song as done by MxPx. Read the review for anything else I have to say about this song in the film. Word.
MxPx - Scooby-Doo, Where are You?
Renegade Resonance (Goldfinger) -- Orion @ 2:27 am
In case you live under a rock (or are a new reader, that's a decent excuse I guess...) and don't know, my favorite band is Goldfinger and have been as such for a long time now.A few weeks ago, they came out with a new CD, entitled Open Your Eyes. I really like it. (DUH!) For some reason, Goldfinger has been my favorite band because at different times in my life, they record certain songs that reach out and "speak" to me. They either express how I really feel, or they are talking to me. In the case of these selections, Happy is something that I'm thinking a lot. Well, the chorus anyway. The other song is from the Baseketball soundtrack and was a sort of motivation for me at the time, like it was "to" me. Maybe I'm sounding too sappy, but either way, enjoy the tunes. Goldfinger - Happy Goldfinger - Hopeless
Pure Funk (As Seen On TV...) -- Orion @ 7:24 am
Alright so I just watched Undacova Brotha and even though one of these songs wasn't in the movie, it's still my personal favorite from the (As Seen On TV) Pure Funk CD. If you haven't seen the flick yet, I highly recommend it. I was LMAO during a lot of places.Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting (not in film) Rose Royce - Car Wash
Renegade Resonance (Trik Turner) -- Orion @ 2:46 pm
This song has really grown on me recently, and I originally wanted to post it a week ago, but then it became more appropriate for Mother's Day (yesterday for those of you brain dead out there) but then I got busy and didn't put it up yesterday. Since I'm King of Old Newstm, I figured that a day late was more my style anyway. Enjoy.
Trik Turner - Friends & Family
Renegade Resonance (The Toy Dolls) -- Orion @ 6:41 pm
I listened to the Toy Dolls back when punk rock was punk rock and heavy metal was heavy metal. They were doing what pop-punk bands are doing now... but they did it in the 80s. You didn't hear them on KROQ or other "alternative" radio station in the US, because back then the only way you could hear punk rock was at the shows or buy the albums. I bought some of the albums (on cassette at the time... before they even released any CDs) and was feeling retro so I bought a compilation. Here are two of my favorites. The Toy Dolls - She Goes To Fino's The Toy Dolls - James Bond Lives Down Our Street
